A full yet modified schedule will be followed on these days and is given below the dates:

A4/B4…………12:05 p.m. – 1:01 p.m.
A5/B5…………1:06 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
In order for this to be as productive a time as possible for our teachers, staff, and administration, please make every effort to have your students picked up from school at 2:00 p.m.
Additionally, all teachers will be available in their classrooms for student help and to meet with parents from 3:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m every Monday-Thursday throughout the 2010/2011 school year (if a teacher has a conflict, such as coaching, a personal/family appointment or obligation, etc., notification will be given to the students with as much advance notice as possible and their location during that time will be posted at their classroom door). Fridays, however, will be designated administrative time for the teachers where they will be able to meet as departments, gather in collaboration groups, follow administrative direction on projects or committees, etc. For this reason, teachers will not be available on Fridays when school gets out at 3:15 p.m. (this is for all Fridays throughout the school year that are not already addressed above with early out days).
Thank you all for supporting our teachers, staff, and administration by recognizing the importance of scheduled and planned time together to discuss and implement ideas to improve our school and your student’s education.

FORMER MVHS HOOPS STAR NAMED HEAD GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH AT AMERICAN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
SPANISH FORK, Utah (August 9, 2010) -- American Leadership Academy Athletics Director Jeff Reynolds today announced the hiring of former Mountain View High School standout Lora Mitchell as the Eagles new girls' basketball coach.
Mitchell was a member of the Mountain View High School girls' basketball dynasty from 2000-2004 where the Bruins racked up three straight 4A Utah State Championships, and posted a perfect record against in-state schools over that time. She was a three-time all-state and all-region performer at Mountain View, and during her senior season, Mitchell averaged 13.4 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. She also averaged 4.6 blocks per game and went on to earn Street & Smith's High School Honorable Mention All-America honors as well as a first-team selection at the Nike Tournament of Champions for two straight years.
After graduating from Mountain View, she went on to play college ball at George Washington University in Washington DC where she helped the Colonials earn four straight NCAA tournament bids, including back-to-back Sweet-16 appearances as a junior and as a senior. During her four years at GWU, the Colonials posted a record of 101-29, averaging over 25 wins per season.
"Having Coach Mitchell come to ALA is a great step forward for not only our girls' basketball team, but also for our entire athletics program and our school," Reynolds said. "We're building a solid program here based on time-tested principles and immovable values. Coach Mitchell brings a strong academic background, a love and desire for learning, a principle-based coaching philosophy, and a strong desire to build the ALA girls' basketball program."
While playing Division I basketball and attending George Washington, Mitchell was a double major and earned two degrees in just four years. She holds a bachelors degree in both psychology and political science and is currently working on a masters degree in communications from Southern Utah University.
After graduating from GWU, Mitchell served as the director of basketball operations at Radford University in Radford, Virginia. Last season, she made the move to Cedar City and was a member of the T-Birds coaching staff. Over the summer, Mitchell worked with Mike Flynn, the owner and director of Blue Star Basketball in Philadelphia, PA. For over 25 years Blue Star Basketball has been one of the most influential organizations in providing services for prospects and college recruiters alike. Blue Star provides rankings and listings for The Sporting News, USA Today, Gatorade Circle of Champions, and the McDonalds All American Team just to name a few.

ALA BUSSING FOR 2010-2011
DEADLINE EXTENDED - In order to run our busses for the 2010-2011 school year, we need to make sure they will be filled. If you are interested in having your student ride the busses for $300 per child, please call Jennifer, Angie or Erica at (801) 794-2226 ext. 4. Again, this is not a guarantee your child will be on the bus, because we have to make sure they are full before we can guarantee busses. The bus routes will be very similar, if not the same to what they were this year. We will do our best to make sure there is a bus stop near your home. If interested we need to know by Monday, May 17 and will let you know the final decision by Monday, May 24. If by chance our busses do fill up, they will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. So please let us know as soon as possible.

NEW PICK-UP PROCEDURES
You talked….and we listened!!
Thank you for all of your input concerning our after school pick-up procedures.
After months of collaboration, we believe we have developed the best possible Pick-Up Traffic Flow plan. Starting Monday, November 23rd, we will be implementing our new UDOT approved solution that simultaneously achieves our goals of both safety and efficiency.
Elementary students will receive this information both by email and through a note coming home this week. Information may also be obtained by visiting the front desk at the elementary or by attending the parent meetings that will be held on Thursday at 2:30 pm and again at 6:30 pm in the Elementary School Library.
During the first few days we will have staff and volunteers on site, with signs and directions to help facilitate these changes.
Please help us make this new plan a success by familiarizing yourself with the map and our new procedures and by following the directions of those assisting in its’ implementation.
